Farm to City Food Distribution seeking public partners

The University of Florida IFAS West Florida Research and Education Center (UF/IFAS WFREC), Feeding the Gulf Coast, and Waterfront Rescue Mission will once again join forces to celebrate National Farm to City Week November 22-29, 2023. Farm to City Week is a time to recognize and celebrate the importance of relationships between farmers, consumers, community leaders and everyone in between who contributes to the safe, abundant food supply.

UF/IFAS WFREC is looking for public partners to support this effort to promote agriculture and to feed 1,000 families in need during Farm to City Week.

On Nov. 21, Feeding the Gulf Coast will provide holiday meal boxes for each family that includes a turkey or ham and all the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal. UF/IFAS WFREC and Santa Rosa Farm Bureau will provide locally grown produce.

The locally grown produce (collards, turnips and sweet potatoes) will be harvested at the UF/IFAS WFREC one day prior (Nov. 20) to the distribution of the holiday meal boxes by local agriculture students from Santa Rosa and Escambia County.
